Seminar: The 100 Inch Engine, Past, Present and Future
This event has finished
| Dates: | 20 June 2009 |

| Venue: | Kew Bridge Steam Museum |
A seminar about the 100-inch engine and its past and future. The very large Cornish beam engine is still standing in the place it was erected by its makers, Harvey and Company of Hayle, in 1869. It ceased working in 1944 and was last run for a demonstration in 1956. It has not moved since and is completely intact, just as it was in its working days. It stands beside our 90-inch engine, restored in 1979 and demonstrated regularly by the museum for the last 33 years. Should the 100 inch be restored too?
