Iain Sinclair: Hackney, that Rose-Red Empire
This event has finished
| Dates: | 17 March 2009 |

| Venue: | Purcell Room |
Inspired by Iain Sinclair's new book Hackney, That Rose-Red Empire, this is an evening of readings and film to capture London's last renegade spirit, before the Olympics changes the borough for ever. Using the 'documentary fiction' style which has made Sinclair's name, and showing film footage never shown in public before, this event offers a portrait of a place, uncovering the secret histories and famous figures that populate Hackney, which contribute to its unique psyche. 'It's a habit I can't break: the habit of Hackney: writing and walking, 30 years in one house' (Iain Sinclair).
