Go on an Amazonian adventure this Christmas as the Young Vic presents a tropical festive show, inspired by Brazilian eco-hero Chico Mendez.
Amazônia at the Young Vic
The Young Vic and People's Palace Projects have joined forces to present a Christmas show with a difference.
The spectacular adventure of Amazônia unfolds in the village of Todos Os Santos. As danger and desire invade the Amazon, the spirits of the forests must fight to save the village heroes.
Amazônia is a unique show inspired by Chico Mendez, an internationally renowned Amazonian activist who was assassinated 20 years ago.
The Cast and Crew of Amazônia
Although performed in English, the cast of Amazônia includes both Brazilian and British artists.
The show is written by Colin Teevan and directed by Paul Heritage, the artistic director of People's Palace Projects, which brought AfroReggae to London's Barbican this year.
About the Amazônia Project

The Christmas performance of Amazônia at the Young Vic is just one part of a 12-month series of events co-produced by the Young Vic and People's Palace Projects, also called Amazônia.
The project links together Rio Branco, a riverside city in the Amazon city, with London's own Thameside community of Waterloo. As well as exploring the legends and people of the Amazon, the collaboration involves debating and discussing themes such as activism, climate change and citizenship.
Amazônia's exciting season of events is already underway both in Brazil and London. This August, vibrant show Festa! brought Brazilian Quadrilha dancing and drumming to the Young Vic and surrounding streets.
