Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 in London

Titian's Diana and Actaeon, The Death of Actaeon and Diana and Callisto were all inspired by scenes from Ovid's poem Metamorphoses.

Now modern-day choreographers, composers, artists and poets are coming together to create new works inspired by Titian's paintings – including three new Royal Ballet works, poetry and stage set designs from leading British artists including Chris Ofili.

New Royal Ballet Works for Metamorphosis: Titian 2012

Inspired by Titian's three paintings, renowned choreographers Wayne McGregor, William Tuckett and Christopher Wheeldon are creating three new works for The Royal Ballet.

The Royal Ballet's performances at the Royal Opera House will be accompanied by original music from British composers, with stage sets designed by leading contemporary artists Conrad Shawcross, Mark Wallinger and Chris Ofili.

See the exciting new set designs for Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 come alive at the National Gallery, as the designs of Conrad Shawcross, Mark Wallinger and Chris Ofili are displayed – from their initial ideas to the final execution.

The National Gallery has also commissioned a group of well-known poets to create their own poems in response to both Ovid's Metamorphoses and Titian's mythological paintings.
