Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam explores the Hajj, the journey to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which is central to the Muslim faith.

Bringing together historic objects and contemporary artworks, the exhibition looks at how this spiritual journey has evolved through the ages.

The display covers three key areas:

  • The pilgrim's journey and the major routes used from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East
  • The Hajj today, its rituals and what it means to pilgrims
