Gold Works of Art and Artefacts at Goldsmiths' Hall

A major exhibition of gold works of art and artefacts which vividly tells the story of Britain and Gold - from Cornish gold dust to precious golden treasures.

It explores and demonstrates various themes such as the sources of gold in Britain, its long association with Royalty and religion and Britain as a major trading nation and financial centre. It illustrates gold's association with sport hence a number of golden trophies, including Olympic gold medals are featured.

Rare and exotic treasures from abroad are also in evidence, each with a story to tell, as well as gold items used in the rituals of dining, interior decoration and fashion.

Bringing the exhibition up to date the skills of contemporary British silversmiths are highlighed proving that the desire for gold is undiminished. These rare, gold objects, many previously unseen, have been loaned from private and public collections.
