Smaller Venues for Dance

Alongside world-famous venues like the Royal Opera House and Sadler's Wells, London boasts many smaller spaces hosting exciting dance. 

Often associated with emerging talent, this is where young performers cut their teeth and more established companies develop new pieces.

Linbury Studio/Clore Studio Upstairs at the Royal Opera House

The Linbury is a contemporary studio space seating about 400. The Clore is an intimate studio accommodating 200 people. These venues specialise in both contemporary and classical dance and are part of the impressive Royal Opera House complex, located in the heart of Covent Garden.

The Place: Robin Howard Dance Theatre

The Place is a dance school and venue specialising in contemporary dance. It is home to the acclaimed Richard Alston Dance Company. The Robin Howard Dance Theatre is one of the UK's busiest dance venues, hosting more than 200 performances each year. Expect to see new and experimental works at this 300-seat venue.

Laban Theatre

Located in Deptford, the Laban Theatre at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance hosts exciting shows by contemporary dance companies, as well as performances by Trinity Laban dance students. The award-winning building is the work of Tate Modern architects Herzog and de Meuron.

artsdepot

The only professional arts venue in Barnet, artsdepot presents a diverse range of performance and visual art, with something for all ages. Expect to see young dance talent and new works covering everything from hip-hop to contemporary and traditional Indian dance. The main theatre seats 400.
