Controversial German metal band Rammstein formed in Berlin in the mid-nineties and have enjoyed considerable worldwide success despite their shocking imagery, extremely taboo lyrics and explicit music videos. Their mix of industrial metal, pounding trance-like drums, synth and operatic atmospherics has proved very popular, and the band has sold over 15 million records worldwide.
