Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (BFO) has the status of the national orchestra and as one of the world's oldest orchestras led its history dating back to 1765. Edvard Grieg was closely linked to the BFO, and was in the years 1880-82 the orchestra's artistic director. The orchestra now counts 97 musicians.

The Lewisham Concert Band under guest conductor Tom Higgins performs their 4th annual festive concert to welcome in the new year. It will feature music by the Strauss family, Robert Stolz, Fucík, Schubert, Mozart and Lehár. Also included are the traditional Blue Danube Waltz and the Radetsky March, and welcoming back trumpeter Crispian Steele - Perkins in the trumpet concerto by Joseph Haydn.
