The Collegium Musicum was an important part of Bach's musical life during his time in Leipzig, but his main employment was that of Cantor to the city's four churches. Bach's cantatas from this period are abundant and sublime but it is perhaps his musical depictions of the Passion of Christ which show the greatest depth and intensity. The St John Passion was performed several times during Bach's time in Leipzig and he continued to revise the work right up to the end of his life. I Fagiolini's perfiormances of pre-classical vocal masterpieces have been rightly praised throughout the world. They are accompanied by Baroque specialists the Feinstein Ensemble.
