Internationally acclaimed for his books on literature, politics and the intersection of politics and culture, Said was the most prominent spokesman for the Palestinian cause outside the Middle East as well as an accomplished musician. Diagnosed with incurable leukemia in 1991, Said stopped giving interviews. But in November 2002, less than a year before he died, he made a final exception and over the course of three days spoke with unparalleled intimacy about his life, illness and work.

A new list of over 50 leading contemporary book illustrators from around the world is on show at this collection of contemporary book illustration artwork. To coincide with the UK premier of Tom Hanks' new film Where The Wild Things Are there is a special focus on the artwork of Maurice Sendak with rare signed lithographs produced by the artist from 1971 on view and for sale.

Frances Macdonald captures the true character of the coastline of Argyll and the Western Isles in her paintings. Her trademark use of the palette knife to depict the very structure of the rock formations is balanced by an ability to portray the true colours of both beach and sea.
