Electronica21 April 2012
O2 Academy Brixton SW9 9SL[map]
The band trailblazed their unique sound in the early '90s and took John Lydon back to the top of the charts. Their debut album 'Leftism' became a modern classic and was also voted one of the greatest albums of all time by Q magazine. Their follow-up album 'Rhythm & Stealth' went to number one and spawned the techno anthem 'Phat Planet'. Revealed as the loudest band ever to play Brixton Academy, Leftfield's show made such a seismic impact that it remains the benchmark for live electronic music to this day. Leftfield can take recognition for inspiring some of the world's biggest dance acts, including The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Underworld, and also Sasha, who acclaims Leftfield as 'writing the commandments on electronic music'.
