I booked Museum Inn as i was having a night out and looking for nothing more than a cheap, clean bed for the night. As such it's fine.

The location can't be beat, it's right by the British Museum so great

for nights in Soho or the west end. Yes this place is tired and shabby but you won't find better value in the neighbourhood.

The beds were comfortable and clean with a decent sized locker beneath. I was up quite early for a shower and though the showers were clean i can't comment as to what they're like at busier times.

The only major problem i had was that there was no ladder to my bed so i had to use the one on the next bunk and launch myself across!

Breakfast isn't great with budget cornflakes/muesli, toast and stewed

tea (juice would have been nice) but for a quick bite it's fine.

This place isn't The Ritz but the rates reflect that.

The location can't be beat, and the staff is friendly, helpful and entertaining. The rooms are clean, as are the bathrooms (the showers were a bit gross, though - bring shower shoes), and overall its a pretty nice hostel. However, for the price, its a little too hostel-y. We expected a more hotel-like atmosphere, which is not at all what we got. Though, in London, everything is expensive, and I don't know if you'll really do much better.

I'm really surprised to see a few negative reviews on here - my boyfriend and I stayed for three days at the end of a long European holiday and this place was a dream. In a nutshell: great location (literally opposite the British Museum), and within 10 mins walk of all the great clubs in Soho, which is great for gay travellers. West End too is really close.

The location isn't all there is to the place though. When I'm backpacking I don't get up in time for the free breakfast, so I wouldn't know how good or bad it is. However, the kitchen is roomy (feels almost like you're at someone's place), and the whole place has a really homely feel to it, which is great when you're tired and want to relax.

Maybe it was because we were on the top floors, but the bathrooms always seemed clean to me, and the fact there was always hot water was a bonus (again, maybe I was lucky because I sleep in and have a shower after everyone else has pushed and shoved in the morning!)

Despite the fact we had to move three times in three days - our fault because we booked at the last minute - we will definitely stay here the next time we are in London. A few cons: the lockers under the beds make a bit of noise and there's only one washing machine and drier, but these are negligble when you consider what the place does offer.

The staff are really lovely and helpful, the rooms aren't shoeboxes, and the place struck me as being pretty clean (again, I don't know what the other reviewers are going on about).

For central London it doesn't get much better for the price.

It was an alright stay, but we got there around 10pm and all these people were already asleep so we of course had to wake them up and find beds. they werent too pleased. the rooms were stuffy and smelled like too many people sweating. clean bathrooms though. "breakfast" was cereal and milk that didnt need to be refridgerated. (?) Anyways it was alright but it was the least good hostel of all three we stayed in that trip
