Express by Holiday Inn Gatwick Crawley

Stayed 3 nights.

Rooms are good, clean and functional.

Traveling on business, it was essential to use Internet for email and work related web access. This hotel has a third party Internet provider, called TheCloud.net

Logged-in, entered credit card number, started to use it, and 5 minutes later, internet connection froze. Tried several more times to login, no success.

Tried using a different computer: same results. No access!

Called their customer service number, automated answering system, then got forwarded to a representative, which never came. Their customer service line (TheCloud.net) hung up on me every time I tried to contact them.

Since I was not able to get on the Internet, I could not check my e-mail, and hence I could not see that they were charging me the same amount every time I tried to use it.

To add insult to injury, I contacted my wife to call me from home (US) through the phone, and every time she called, there was a 2 to 3 minute on hold before she was transferred to my room!

Add that to the phone charges!

In all, the rooms were good, breakfast was OK. Room rates were good, but NO INTERNET ACCESS! DON'T EVEN TRY TO USE IT!

Have used this hotel a few times when flying from Gatwick.

Its a really nice clean good value hotel. Buffet breakfast included in the fixed price.

There is a pub and a resturant right outside the front door.

Its a ten minute taxi ride to Gatwick airport.

We stayed 2 nights in early October. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was fine and we thought it was very good value. However, we had a shock when we saw our check-out bill. We had made some phone calls to friends in the London area as we had had a change of plan and we were astonished to see calls totalling over 100 pounds with no details available. One was more than 80 pounds (400+ units) and when we questioned this, the receptionist was unable to explain any of the amounts. We refused to pay the 80+ pound item and were told we would hear further; however, we have heard nothing since. Aside from this, it was a pleasant enough stay.
