The cities were lost until their rediscovery by archaeologists almost 1700 years later, giving us a fascinating insight into Roman life.This major exhibition at the British Museum brings together more than 250 artefacts from these Roman cities, including recent discoveries and celebrated finds from earlier excavations.

    In Japan during the years 1600 to 1900, thousands of sexually explicit paintings, prints and books were produced. These works were known as "spring pictures" (Shunga). This exhibition will explore the social and cultural contexts for sex art in Japan, and highlight Shunga's importance in Japanese art history.
