Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

I enjoyed everything about the gardens from the tropical plants, to the amazing collection of trees, to the indoor pond full of water lilies. I absolutely will be returning the next time my husband and I go to London. It is easy to get to using public transportation. A MUST SEE for anyone who enjoys gardening.

We live quite close to Kew and visit the Royal Botanic Gardens a lot, and each time I go there I find something new, and I'm struck by what an amazing place it is. It is tranquil and awe-inspiring, as well as feeling like it is well-frequented and alive. The people who work and volunteer there really have gone out of their way to make sure there is something for everyone. It's great for kids (it has the Climbers and Creepers section where they can let off steam and also learn about nature) and adults alike. It's also got great cafes and shops that are full of beautiful gifts, as well as a plant shop full of really reasonably priced plants. I'd really recommend this as an attraction. A really beautiful place.

We planned on a visit to Kew from many a recommendation. It was expensive to get in but there is so much to see. In fact we didn't get round it all! Still the gardens are beautiful especially in the sunshine as we experienced them. And then there is the treetop walkway, statues, fountains, glasshouses and temples. We also observed coots (inc. babies, peacocks and geese. The food was a bit os a letdown. The cake was good but the plated meals (wehad these at the orangery restaurant) were not great and still left us hungry ( a plate of sausage and mash consisted of 2 sausages and a dollop of mash) But still overall a very good experience.

Not everyone gets it...

Think of it as a museum of plants. The real pleasure is in exploring it in an unguided way- where you will find some very strange things in deed. Not just plants. A couple of art galleries too.
