Loads of knowledgable people throughout and lots of exhibits. There is a young gent in the Young Henry exhibit who totally gets into telling you about the executions and related tidbits. While I had to ask him to stop...I really enjoyed his enthusiam for what he did. I saw that no where else during my trip to London.

In the Queens rooms there were actors playing period parts and interacted with us. Made it fun.

The gardens were lovely and the maze a great place to get lost.

It's an attraction on the London pass and you can catch the train from Waterloo station or Vauxhall ( on Victoria line)

Big, but lacklusture

This is a very big building, steeped in British history, but somehow is lacklusture and lacks the elegance of other similar stature buildings. The gardens are well laid out, but can only be enjoyed...

The gardens are well laid out, but can only be enjoyed in summer.

A great place to go if you are a fan of the Tudor era, never seen a European palace before, a historian, or have plenty of time as a tourist in London, but is easily missable if you are neither of those.

I spent half a day here and it was worth it. I decided against a guided tour and took the audio tour instead. This was worth the money and above average for audio guides I have taken in the past. It does a very nice job of taking you through the Tudor Kitchens, Royal Chapel, Great Hall, and Clock Court among others. There are numerous anecdotal stories as well as historical references from Henry VIII to George II to Christopher Wren.

A visit to the surrounding gardens was less inspiring, but that probably had more to do with the time of my visit (March... too warm to ice skate and too cold to bloom:) than with the grounds themselves. I would imagine after reading the reviews here that I may be making a return trip if I visit London during the spring or summer.
