This was great and a unique experience. To the people who wrote some negative reviews...stay home ! The tour was very informative, and well hosted, by a very nice guide who kept the tour popping with historic information, show business references. There was a protest on the tour route, so we took some different roads and saw even more than we expected. The wildest moment is when the truck plops down into the Thames like a log flume ride, great fun, and we saw London from a duck's perspective. The vehicle itself is historically interesting, and from WW2. It was even featured in. The only part of the tour that was less than sterling was the traffic, but hey, it's London, bot Cardiff or Boise! Go and have a great time.

My partner and I went on the Duck tour hoping for a bit of fun and a ride in a piece of history. We got this and lots more. Our tour guide was hugely irreverant and funny but also informative. You should be warned, if you wanting to tick off all the sites of London and are interested in having the birth dates of luminaries like Sir Christopher Wren rhymmed off to you, this is not the tour for you. If you are interested in where Hitler's dog is buried and why the statue of Lloyd George is badly conceived, then this is the tour for you.

However the main reason to go on this tour is the Dukw itself. What a great experience. How often can you say that you've travelled in a yellow, amphibious landing craft that was in action on the D-Day beaches?! Great fun.

A final word on your fellow passengers. On our trip the adults far outnumbered the kids. The Duck attracts people with a sense of the absurd and those who like history and transport. So, if you worried that not having a kid to take along or that the Duck will be over-run with rug rats - you need not be concerned.

Just been on the Tour today. Arrived early so the guy suggested we go on the earlier tour which was helpful. Don't bring your luggage as it is an open sided vehicle and wrap up warm in winter. Good tour by road first. You are quite high up so you see over the traffic. Never done a London bus tour before so I have nothing to compare it to but I enjoyed it as did the kids. Best bit was going into the river. Unusual and exciting. London has plenty of things that need to be seen from the river. The guide was funny and informative. He could be seen as rude in a couple of things he said to a couple of people but you would have to be very sensitive to take offense.

This was recommended to us by friends and we would pass on that recommendation

Best tour in London - don't be put off by previous bad reviews

Rarely leave reviews on this site, but feel I have to after some of the previous reviews - "no room for luggage" and "not much room": you're in a WW2 D-day landing craft, what do you expect? Went on this with a party of 5 others including my dad who's birthday trip this was and we all agreed it was brilliant. We spent far longer on the water than ten minutes (nearly half an hour) and the tour doesn't just fly past places, you really get to know things about the sights.

Maybe we got lucky, and other people have had really bad experiences, but please don't let bad reviews put you off : this is an excellent tour.

Like many other reviewers on here I too think this tour is overpriced for what it is. We paid £38 for two adults and the tour was not 75 minutes as advertised but only 55 minutes. (No explanation or part-refund was offered!)

The tour just drives around in the traffic for a bit then goes into the water for ten minutes then out again and round the streets a bit then ends. Big deal! It does not stop anywhere so you only dash past the "sights" anyway.

Everyone is packed in very tightly. There is no space whatsoever for luggage or bags of any kind.

The only saving grace was the guide, whose patter was hilarious; though it did irritate me that she expected us to applaud the driver (why?--- we don't applaud bus/train/tube drivers just for doing their jobs!) and hinted that we should leave a tip, which, considering we'd paid nearly 40 quid for less than an hour was a damned cheek!

I recommend that you give this one a miss. It's just a tourist-trap run by staff who cannot even be bothered to do the full 75 minutes.

Get a London Transport all day ticket and a Thames Clipper all day ticket and you can get on and off Tubes, buses, trains and boats from dawn till midnight for exactly the same price.h
