It's cost £5 million, and it's going to make life easier for 200 million people: yesterday the crossings at Oxford Circus, one of London's busiest pedestrian points, revealed a radical new look. Visit Oxford Circus today, and you'll be able to cross the junction diagonally as well as straight ahead. This simple change means the crossroads between Oxford Street and Regent Street should now be able to handle twice the number of people as before. Just in time for the Christmas shopping season!

Orangutan Encounter at National Geographic Store

Ben Sherman Opens Savile Row Store

1960s-influenced brand, Ben Sherman has opened a store on Savile Row: the London street best known for being a bastion of British bespoke suit-makers. The new store offers both the premium collection of ready-to-wear tailoring and accessories, and a made-to-measure service. Pop in, and you'll find this new arrival to the fairly conservative Savile Row has some cheeky additions: a Vespa in the lobby, and some reclining ladies on the wallpaper in the changing rooms gives this Ben Sherman the feel of an exclusive gentlemen's club. Jack White Opens Pop-Up Shop in London

Musician Jack White (of bands The White Stripes, Dead Weather and The Raconteurs) is opening a pop-up shop in London this week. The shop, called Third Man Records and Novelties, will sell records, t-shirts and merchandise from Jack White's various musical projects. The shop is based in Shoreditch Church on Friday and Saturday. Look out for London-centric collections tying in with White's Dead Weather gigs at the Forum and Brixton Academy.

HMV Opens In-Store Cinema in Wimbledon

Like record shops? Like the cinema? Now you can combine the two at a new three-screen cinema above the HMV store on The Broadway in Wimbledon. At hmvcurzon, you can browse DVDs and CDs while you're waiting for your film to start. There's also a café and a fully licensed bar, alongside the three cinema screens. The cinemas hold 103 people, 91 and 71 people respectively. Films showing this week include Fantastic Mr. Fox and Pixar's latest adventure, Up. Harrods Christmas Lights Switch-On

This Christmas, Harrods is joining Warner Brothers to celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy and her friends will be creating magic throughout Knightsbridge during the festive season with special events and exclusive launches. The festivities begin on Thursday 29 October when Harrods transforms into The Emerald City as all 11,500 bulbs on its famous façade turn from white to a glittering green. At 5pm, Dannii Minogue and Harrods Chairman, Al Fayed will officially hit the switch to make the store's magical transformation. This Christmas, Harrods Emerald Palace will be supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, helping to make the holidays special for the less fortunate.
