Value Pubs and Bars in London
Even if your wallet is feeling a little light there's no reason why you shouldn't still enjoy London's pubs and bars. It's simply a case of getting your timing right (don't miss those happy hours!) and knowing where to go.
So crack open the piggy bank and raid the back of the sofa. Armed with our suggestions your loose change should stretch to a pint or two!
Pre-Theatre Refreshments
Blown all your cash on tickets to the latest West End smash? Don't worry, a trip to The Chandos won't break the bank. Conveniently located in the centre of Theatreland, this traditional boozer belongs to independent brewer Samuel Smith, and serving its own range of lagers and bitters keeps the prices surprisingly low.
Skint in Soho
Soho is without a doubt one of London's best drinking spots thanks to its abundance of clubs, bars and pubs. However, it's probably not one of the best places to find a cheap pint. If you don't want to miss out on the party atmosphere, head to the Montague Pyke. Part of the value-for-money Wetherspoons chain, this huge bar is a great place for special offers on wine, beer and cocktails.
Student Budget
Even if your student years are a distant memory, you can still enjoy student-style prices at the Court. If you are a student, get hold of a Yellow Card (you'll need an NUS card to apply) to make the most of the offers and you may even be able to afford a game of pool on one of the tables upstairs.

Location, Location, Location
You wouldn't expect to be able to get a cheap pint along with a stunning location, but at the Ice Wharf at Camden Lock you can have both. Grab a seat alfresco to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the nearby market and watch the passing narrow boats as they wind their way along Regent's Canal.
Backpacker Beers
St Christopher's Village is part of a chain of budget hostels that also runs a number of pubs and bars across the city. They are typically lively, party places with great deals on food and drinks available every day.
Happy Hour in Style
Many of London's bars and clubs have happy hours, which are a great way of visiting cool venues that might not normally fall within your budget. As these promotions are typically aimed at the after-work crowd, you'll usually catch them on weekdays between 5 and 7pm.
Hidden away in a basement bar, the Langley is a cool hang-out with retro-styling and funky music. Happy hour here runs from 5 to 7pm, seven days a week, when there are loads of great offers on cocktails, wine and spirits as well as tasty bar snacks.
Drinks are great value at Potion at the best of times, but during happy hour (Monday – Friday, 4 – 9pm) you can get a real bargain. Laid out over three levels, this stylish bar serves up a delicious mix of cool cocktails and funky house.
