Motcombs Restaurant & Bar

About Motcombs Restaurant & Bar

Belgravia’s most famous restaurant, Motcombs, is a terribly British affair situated mere metres from Sloane Street. A warm, inviting ambience is combined with classical, chic styling and slick but friendly service to make Motcombs the perfect place to enjoy an elegant dinner accompanied by an impeccable wine list away from the hustle and bustle of London’s busiest shopping streets. It will come as no surprise to learn that Motcombs has an armful of awards to its name, indeed such is the quality of the fine British menu with its impressive selection of fish and game dishes it seems an oversight that it doesn’t boast a lot more accolades.

Not busy whenI arrived at just after 7 pm, Motcombs filled up and by the time I left the atmosphere was very cheerful. My meal of Scallops, Dover Sole and a trio of Ice Creams was good value and the house Pinot Grigio was excellent. The service was friendly and efficient making this a very satisfacyory visit.

Motocmbs in in London's Knightsbridge manages to combine great panache in cuisine with a relaxed, almost louche elegance that typifies the area. Upstairs is a bustling bistro, people close together in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Downstairs is the more formal restaurant with that touch of refinement required for more discerning diners. Prices vary but not on the cheap side. But quality is good and you are unlikely to leave disappointed.

Motcombs, London, is a well run establishment suitable for casual and family dining. Service is quick and attentive, the room crowded.

Dining alone on a Friday evening, I was pleased to be able to get a table at Motcombs in Motcomb Street. Although quite quiet when I arrived at 7.30, the room soon filled and the ambience was good. I followed prawns with an excellent Escalope of veal and enjoyed a glass of wine from the interesting wine list. A pleasant visit and reasonable value.
