Peaceful Farm With Delicious Food
Mudchute Farm is such a surprising place. Before I visited I never would have imagined that you could find a peaceful farm with wandering herds of sheep and cattle so close to central London. You can see the towering buildings of Canary Wharf just in the background, the farm is just a short walk from the DLR, yet you feel a million miles away. When I was living in London, I used this place as a quick break from the hectic frenzy that can otherwise characterize London.
The food at Mudchute Kitchen is rustic and delightful (check out the farm fresh eggs with homemade beans for breakfast), there are horses trotting by as you eat, everyone is very friendly and welcoming, the pace is languid and relaxing, and there isn't even a hint of pretentiousness or trendiness about the place. Don't even think of missing the baked goods - amazing coffee cakes and scones. Afterwards, take your time and wander the farm, say hi to the goats and pigs, pet a sheep or two wandering around the park, and wave at the llamas.
Avoid the cafe - take a picnic
Mudchute Kitchen was one of the finalists in a recent Time Out Family restaurant and as with any thriving new business, sometimes we can fall victim to our own success. We are very sorry about the unsatisfactory experience one person had, but we are delighted to have record numbers currently visiting Mudchute Park and Farm and eating at the Mudchute Kitchen!
