For a one-stop insight into East End history, there is no better place to start. Built in 1719, this Georgian residence has housed Huguenot silk-weavers, Irish, Jews and Poles, as well as spending spells as a school and a synagogue. You can tour the house and visit the excellent ‘Suitcases and Sanctuary’ exhibition. Limited opening; see website for dates.
