Wellcome Collection
About Wellcome Collection
Wellcome Collection is a free destination for the incurably curious. Explore what it means to be human through a unique mix of galleries, events and meeting, reading and eating places.
This year’s changing exhibitions explore mental illness at the turn of the century and today; the curious and grotesque story of the anatomical model, and what makes us different from another in a show about human identity. Most shows are accompanied by related events and tours.
Upstairs Medicine Now and Medicine Man present exhibits spanning six centuries, from the bizarre to the beautiful, the ancient to the modern, including a Peruvian mummified male, Darwin’s walking stick, a gastrointestinal camera the size of a baked bean and a robot used in the human genome project.

Miracles and Charms at the Wellcome Collection
Museum Exhibition6 Oct 2011 to 26 Feb 2012
An autumn exhibition programme that explores the extraordinary in the everyday with two shows. 'Infinitas Gracias' shows Mexican miracle paintings, the first major display of Mexican votive paintings outside Mexico. 'Felicity Powell: Charmed Life', is an exhibition of unseen London amulets from Henry Wellcome's collection, selected and arranged by the artist. Drawing lines between faith, mortality and healing, the programme offers a poignant insight into the tribulations of daily life and human responses to chance and suffering.
