The Old Dairy

About The Old Dairy

Set in an unusual and impressive historical building which gives it its name, The Old Dairy is a gastropub which has taken Crouch End by storm. Built in 1890, The Old Dairy retains much of its original character, with exposed brick walls and steel girders and etchings bringing a sense of the past to this very modern approach to dining. Great care has been taken to give The Old Dairy a warm welcoming and glamorous interior, the perfect foil to a changing menu of real ales and homely, comfort food with a touch of the exotic. Inspired by sunny Mediterranean flavours, The Old Dairy menu includes delicious fish dishes and tagines alongside more traditional pub grub with style type dishes.

Lots of space with comfortable chairs and booths. Friendly service and had high chair for our 2 year old. Reasonable selection of wines by the glass. Had a selection of child menus and was open Good Friday. They brought the wrong first course, but were prepared to change the way the main was cooked. Menu was somewhat different from the usual but did not work as well as we imagined. We paid nearly £110 for three adults and a toddler for 3 courses and 3 glasses of wine.

We went to The Old Dairy on Mothering Sunday evening. Food was very good, particularly the baked Camembert. The pub itself was pretty quiet - there is a separate dining area which is, I imagine, only used when things get busy. Service excellent - friendly and attentive, without being obtrusive. Nice to see wine by the glass being charged at a price which was only a little above the comparitive price of a full bottle.

The Old Dairy Crouch End Warm atmosphere and really very good gastro pub food with a strong English based menu. Steak and fish and chips both well above average quality. Will definitely return.
