The Wet Fish Café

About The Wet Fish Café

A café by day and smart brasserie by night, The Wet Fish Café restaurant is the perfect setting for cosy, romantic meals or lazy weekend brunches. Set in one of London's historic 'wet fish' shops in West Hampstead, the original Art Deco wall tiles and eclectic interior create a warm, neighbourly atmosphere. It is a hit with artsy West Hampstead locals who enjoy good jazz, cocktails and the Wet Fish Cafe’s own brand of “modern comfort food”. The seasonally changing menu is short and satisfying: it includes fish, meat and veggie dishes. Classics include the crispy squid with aioli, pollock with smoked lentils, chorizo oil and green beans, and rhubarb, ginger and almond crumble. The Early Bird menus are terrific value. Either pop in for pasta, fish or tapas between 4pm and 6pm with some truly enticing offers, or order by 7pm and return your table by 8pm for an irresistible deal on the prix fixe menu. And Early Bird offers are available all evening every Monday evening.

good meal - not inspiring though

Excellent meal at The Wet Fish Cafe in West Hampstead. Pasta with crayfish and chorizo was proclaimed delicious and the grilled asparagus with a perfectly poached egg and salad was also memorable, and a large enough to make dessert a no-no. A good reason to go back soon.

Great food, great ambiance and as we dined on a Monday evening benefitting from the early bird special - excellent value. Scallops starter was delicious as was Sea Bass, Salmon with Barley Risotto and Crayfish Linguine. Cocktails were good too.

The Wet Fish Cafe; West Hampstead: this is a cute, cozy place that we have been meaning to try for ages. We had a nice meal and would go back. While the menu is small and pretty limited, we liked what we had (although the sea bream had too many bones and the pasta special could have benefited from more fish and less noodle). The service was nice although a bit too quick. We were finished in just under one hour, including a starter and main. We would have preferred a more relaxed meal.
