Orso Restaurant

About Orso Restaurant

Seeking Orso restaurant in the heart of London’s Covent Garden? Find the understated etched-glass doors on Wellington Street, then make your way down the terrazzo stairs and emerge center stage in a scene right out of 1950’s Milan. A zillion black and white photographs of film and theatre actors star the pale terracotta walls, colourful glazed Italian crockery gives a trattoria feel, and flattering lighting and soft colours give the theatrical vintage A-list clientele a gentle glow. A sparkling hubbub fills the air. Orso is a long-running, sophisticated hit serving rustic modern Italian cuisine with major buzz pre and post theatre. Truly Italian, from its ingredients to the waiters who serve it, the menu changes daily with the market. Orso’s wine list is entirely Italian except for the fizz. For lunch, pre-theatre dinner or supper after the show, this former orchid warehouse provides a delightful dining experience.

This is my second time at Orso and my opinion remains the same, it is wonderful. The waitress made a recommendation for our entree and it was excellent.

The ambience at Orso was great. The food was to a very high standard and the chef was particuarly accommodating in fulfilling the varied dietary requirements of some of our party. The only down-side was it was a little noisy in there!

Food was OK, but the restaurant was a little tired. But very good for a quick meal pre-theatre.

ORSO has been one fo my favorite restaurants for years. I love how it works for a business lunch as well as with friends or a quick pre theatre dinner. Liek that they serve puntarelle wehn in season and love their pizza bread which is not really anything to do with pizza or bread but is more like carta di musica from the pizza oven - delicious. As are the bella di cerignola olives. Good service and affordable, well sought out wines.
