Osteria Antica Bologna

About Osteria Antica Bologna

Hold on tight, you’re about to be taken on a whirlwind tour of Italy’s famous kitchens courtesy of Clapham’s very own Osteria Antica Bologna. A Northcote Road favourite for over twenty years - that’s an awfully long time on the London restaurant scene - Antica Bologna is as fresh and thrilling as the day it first opened its doors. Panelled in rough wood, it conjures up images of hidden away village osterias in the wild countryside of Emilia Romagna or the rolling hills of Tuscany, its cheerful welcome befitting of an old family favourite. Chef Marzio Zacchi passionately believes in using fresh, locally sourced and seasonal produce having grown up in the Piemonte countryside surrounded by a family who reared chickens, grew veg and cured their own salami. However, despite his rustic upbringing, Zacchi has brought to Antica Bologna’s food the kind of sophistication that can only be gained through several years training in top London restaurants.

What a great little place! Really nice food and great staff. The food went down really well, and we had a great evening. The wine flowed a bit too much with the good atmosphere!

We went for dinner at Osteria Antica Bologna on Saturday and we loved it. Very nice people serving us, good atmosphere, good food. (not amazing, but good never the less). The seafood past special was very good, the linguine was al dente enough for a real Italian (me..). Only tiny complain, the sitting at the back feels a bit like dining in a corridor... I would definitely recommend it for an easy going evening with friends over some red wine and pasta.

A very, very good Italian restaurant. The portion sizes are generous but not overwhelming and the standard of food is excellent. You wil definitely need to book as people were turned away from the door by 8pm.
