Painted Heron
About Painted Heron
The Painted Heron has been recommended to us so many times by so many diners that we are happy to now recommend it to you. Winner of a big restaurant award early in its career, The Painted Heron is a charming and original Indian restaurant tucked away on an unassuming corner of deepest Chelsea. Head chef Yogesh Datta uses the freshest of seasonal ingredients in his innovative dishes, so the menu changes daily. The dining room is light and airy, a series of interconnecting spaces on different levels that are dotted with interesting English artwork, and the clientele tend to be food-lovers of all kinds, but especially the grown-up Chelsea set. We love the starter of crab with red onion and chilli in dosa pancake, the double tandoor roasted lamb chops with mint, and the ginger ice cream.

Excellent food and good service. Restaurant is staarting top look a bit tired though.
Grear food but not alot of choice for vegetarians.
Disappointing visit - food was ok but nothing special. Toilet was filthy and one of the taps was not working and loose. Staff did not explain what the food was without having to ask. Wont rush back
We had dinner at the Painted Heron on Friday night and hosted two friends. It was their first time to dine there and they loved it and will definitely go back. The portions were a good size and the food was delicious.
Very good meal at the Painted Heron. Food was delicious and generous in quantity ( we took some away). Service was attentive without being over bearing. Ambiance was good, reasonably full but not too noisy
