The White Swan

About The White Swan

If you don't believe in fairytales, perhaps a visit to The White Swan will change your mind. Tom and Ed Martin, the brothers who run the Swan's popular sister pub, The Well, have applied their magic to transform the former Mucky Duck into a charismatic gastropub. The groundfloor houses a beautifully restored pub packed with local bankers, lawyers and advertising execs, above which is a mezzanine area (first choice of many an office party). The first floor meanwhile is an oak-floored, mirrored ceiling restaurant serving tasty British food along the likes of steak and kidney suet pudding, and blood orange marmalade sponge pudding with custard. The wine menu lists an impressive 150 bottles from around the world. If you're up for a change from London Pride and Greene King IPA, try one of the two monthly-changing guest ales.

The White Swan in London on Fetter Lane is a good place for a working lunch. The food is good and it has a nice ambience. The service wasn't particularly attentive as it was busy but other than that, very pleasant.

Beautiful food. A little gem. The pub downstairs was busy, to be expected on a Friday. The dining room on the 2nd floor was a beautiful little space. The service excellent with 2 excellent waitresses very friendly. The food was simply magnificent. The mains of Pork Belly and Baby Chicken were fantastic. Desserts were also excellent. Will be back!

7 of us dined at the White Swan for the first time on Tuesday. We received a charming, warm welcome. The knowledgeable staff guided us through the menu and helped in our choice of sides. Throughout the service was impeccable as befits such exciting, excellent food which we were easily able to match with reasonably priced French wines. One slightly corked bottle of red was immediately replaced. The unanimous view was that the food, service and ambience were excellent and very good value overall.

The White Swan was a delight. Once you have fought your way through the crowded downstairs bar, the upper floor has an elegant peaceful restaurant with natural light and mirrored ceilings creating a good sense of space. The people could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and the food was hot, beautifully cooked and imaginatively presented. Not cheap, but the toptable offer helped a lot! Certainly recommended, and on our list for a return visit soon.

Very nicely designed food but taste average. Pudding was pretty standard too. They only had sugar not sweetener. So if you like your coffee with sweetener bring yours I suppose... Great location though!
