The White Swan

About The White Swan

If you don't believe in fairytales, perhaps a visit to The White Swan will change your mind. Tom and Ed Martin, the brothers who run the Swan's popular sister pub, The Well, have applied their magic to transform the former Mucky Duck into a charismatic gastropub. The groundfloor houses a beautifully restored pub packed with local bankers, lawyers and advertising execs, above which is a mezzanine area (first choice of many an office party). The first floor meanwhile is an oak-floored, mirrored ceiling restaurant serving tasty British food along the likes of steak and kidney suet pudding, and blood orange marmalade sponge pudding with custard. The wine menu lists an impressive 150 bottles from around the world. If you're up for a change from London Pride and Greene King IPA, try one of the two monthly-changing guest ales.

White Swan in Fetter Lane had good inventive food and of high quality. Atmosphere was relaxed and loud but not noisy. Only issue was that the window was draughty and the air con plus wall heaters added to the problem so it was not a consistent warmth. Staff attentive and happy to oblige. I would go back (maybe in spring when it's not so cold?)

The White Swan in London was very good, as expected.

Excellent service and the food was delicious.. highly recommended. Only downsides were: they had run out of steaks (which we all wanted to order), the restaurant itself was a little chilly and we had to ask for the toptable offer to be included in our bill. As it turns out we were all very pleased with the alternative main courses we ordered and the bill was amended with the minimum of fuss.. the restaurant remained drafty though. We will be returning (with an extra jumper).

Very good food and lovely service but the restaurant itself was a bit cold. Staff tried to change the heating but sadly it didn't have much effect.

Glad to be able to return to the White Swan after it's January closure, a good central location for a business lunch.
