With a position which will send other restaurateurs green with envy, Zen China is an exciting addition to the South Bank dining scene. Set within the County Hall, right on the banks of the Thames, Zen China is a high class Chinese restaurant head and shoulders above most. The interior has the atmosphere of an old country house drawing room, perhaps owned by a well-travelled aristocrat with an eye for antiques. That is to say that the combination of the very British location and the Chinese cuisine are reflected in the most beautiful way, making the most of a very special location with views over the water to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Serving traditional Chinese cuisine and Imperial style dishes, Zen China is without doubt one of the most unique spots on the South Bank.

Zen china - a little disappointed with the quality of the food, overly laden with MSG. Such a shame as a great location and would have considered going back otherwise
We went to Zen China on the Southbank in London for a Saturday night meal and it was... OK. The venue is great with an amazing view of Big Ben but the food was pretty average and for the price it wasn't great value, even with a 25% off booking! It was a good experience but we probably won't be going back as it was a bit pricey for us. However, if we did I think we would have more of the Japanese style food as the dumplings were very good.
Zen China London - a great oasis away from the maddening crowd outside. Great views sitting looking at Big Ben, friendly staff and good food.Wonderful spot for lunch with my American guest who was very impressed. Thank You
This was our first visit to Zen at County Hall. A palatial venue with views across the Thames, it was virtually empty empty at lunchtime. In the evening they presumably largely rely on guests from the attached Marriott hotel. The two members of staff on duty were both efficient and pleasant. The dishes we (two) had however were edible but not up to Gerard Street standards. The special deal meant that the bill was reasonable for what we had; at full price it would not have been worth considering.
Zen China Restaurant was easy to find and has a nice embience. The service was good,attentive and friendly. We will go there again. Thanks Zen!
