The food at La Buvette was good but the service was terse to the point of rudeness. When we arrived, they had no record of our booking and claimed they didn't take Sunday bookings through TT. They continued arguing until we asked if a table was free, at which point they said 'yes'! When we showed them the text confirmation, they then ranted about how they were going to call TT to complain. Such a shame as the set menu was great value and the onglet and chips delicious but it set the wrong tone.
La Buvette in Richmond is a very intimate restaurant with tables very close together but rather than feeling on top of each other it just gives a great atmosphere to the place. Food was fantastic and service second to none.
Went to La Buvette in Richmond for a business lunch with a colleague from Denmark I had not met face to face with before. Had the set menu and a couple of coffees, plus service £49.10. Soup was delicious, main course of Gnocci was nice, and the French bread accompanied it wonderfully well, and dessert of chocolate was good. Service attentive and surroundings very pleasant. Nice linen tableclothes. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Tucked away next to the church La Buvette proved to be an excellent choice for a dinner with friends.
I went to La Buvette with an old work friend for lunch and the overall experience was good, although the food was ok but not exceptional. It has a lovely ambience and the service was friendly although with a few quirks eg when my friend aksed for a skinny latte, the waiter said "we don't do skinny lattes but we could make one with skimmed milk"! I would recommend this lovely little neighborhood restaurant but would not expect a fine dining experience, just decent French food.
