The Loose Box in Horseferry Rd, London SW1 is good value for slightly upmarket catering very freshly prepared, and the staff are pleasant. Gratis bread and oils at the start were generously provided and my only (rather churlish) gripe is that the mess we made of this (plateless) was not cleaned up before the meal was served. If you intend to do conversation ask for a quiet corner - my party of 6 were put at the back away from the shouty lunchers, and we were well attended to.
We went to the Loose Box Bar & Kitchen, London yesterday evening. The place was very lively (perhaps a bit too noisy) and the service was great. However, the food disappointed. Starters (kidneys & ham hock were fine) but the fish main courses (lemon sole and mackerel) were overdone as were the potatoes..
the Loose Box was a very pleasant venue for Sunday lunch. The food is cooked to perfection. I had chicken breast - very moist. Not something I have very often as it's usually overcooked. Not here. The squid starter was also excellent
