Custom House Pub and Kitchen

About Custom House Pub and Kitchen

Part cosy British boozer, part Bostonian inn, the Custom House Pub and Kitchen is an excellent dining option for pre-show meals close to the Excel centre. Located next to the Royal Victoria Dock, the Custom House Hotel is a casual business travellers lodge with convenient transport links to central London, and the Pub and Kitchen is one of four restaurants within the complex. Decked out with huge, comfy leather sofas, an open fireplace, wooden floors and a pale green and bright red colour scheme, the restaurant is the perfect setting to enjoy good old-fashioned pub grub with a few pints or over a nice bottle of wine. Don't miss the beef burger served with salsa, coleslaw and chips.

Tables were cleared as soon as we had finished any part of both the meal and drinks and we were given the impression from this that they wanted us out of the way as soon as possible.

My first impression was not favourable - it felt like a typical trendy pub with lots of alger and a limited menu for families with kids. However, it was much better than that. the staff were very impressive and the old adage that says keep it simple and short on a menu proved to work.
