Machaan

About Machaan

A contemporary Indian restaurant located on Hampton Wick’s High Street, Machaan intends to fully raise your expectations of South Asian dining. Named after the comfort platforms built in to trees upon which India’s hunters would await their prey, Machaan offers a rare, utterly authentic selection of dishes, taken from the country’s Northern provinces and brought here by a chef fresh from the kitchens of dignitaries throughout the UK and India alike. Treating the combination of herbs and spices as a kind of alchemy, the Machaan kitchen team is committed to authenticity and freshness, the full, extensive menu featuring only the best meals, perfected through experience and skill and ranging from classic favourites to the more exotic recipes found in home kitchens. Of equal importance to the management here at Machaan is that the diner enjoys both a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere and fine service, aims met by charming staff and an attractively simple décor.

This is a very pleasant restaurant with modern furnishings. The food was excellent especially the prawn starter (Ajwaini jhinga) and the chicken tawa masala. But the Sukhi meloni subzi was a really pleasant suprise - billed simply as a collection of vegetables what came was a fantastic tasting medley whose blended spices lingered on the tongue. Excellent! Attentive staff - the chef came and asked us if we liked his offerings - of course we did.

Exceptional Indian food. Very good service, good menu, good wine, very reasonably priced. As good as Rasa, but in the suburbs.......

Machaan has really lived upto it's name? Absolutely brilliant and authentic Indian food. Very friendly staff, chef came out and spoke to us. The heat level was adjusted as per our request. Highly recommended!!

Went early on a Friday night so fairly quiet. The food was superb and the service was excellent. Served a cloudy beer which was changed without a quibble. A bit pricy but well worth it.
