About Seventeen
While Chinese restaurants might be ten-a-penny in London, Chinese restaurants like Notting Hill Gate’s own Seventeen are not. This is super-charged restaurant dining inspired by both the history and culture of China and a thoroughly modern approach to fine dining. Centrally located in this discriminating neighbourhood, Seventeen really does stand out from its neighbours and competitors. The glorious interior is a combination of old and new, fusing ultra-modern design with references to five thousand years of history – futuristic lighting set behind traditionally intricate latticework, designer style furnishings upholstered in richly patterned silks and hints of Chinese script a recurring theme throughout. The result is a space that is clubby but romantic, upmarket but still relaxed. Seventeen’s menu leaves behind the well worn Cantonese style of dining in favour of a cuisine focused on Sichuan and Shanghai specialties. The result is a perfect combination of the familiar and unusual with a tapas-esque dim sum selection providing an opportunity to sample a little bit of everything.

Overall good, but wouldn't go there without the toptable offer
Seventeen in Notting Hill Gate is a lovely restaurant with great decor and ambiance. The service was good, not fussy at all and they were helpful in explaining some of the more unusual dishes on their menu. There was plenty to pick from as well: catering well for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The food was good but not great and didn't have as much of a wow factor as places I've been to before. Overall, book confidently with the Top Table 50% deal but otherwise a little pricey.
A great evening, half price cocktails were on which was a bonus. The salt and pepper calamari was delicious, great to see proper big pieces of squid. Sweet and Sour chicken was good although you shouldnt go wrong with that, tried some dim sums this time and wasnt disappointed, recommend the chicken and chive. Service was great which i rarely ever say for chinese restaurants and the 40% off made a difference for sure, worth a visit even without it, definitely a favourite with me!
We went to Seventeen for sunday dinner with 50% off. Good value with the offer. The staff are always friendly even if sometimes the service is a little clumsy but generally we enjoy coming here and again was still lovely. The Aromatic duck is yummy.
