Chaplins Restaurant
About Chaplins Restaurant
Tucked away in a northeast corner of London, Chaplin's is a retro little eatery on Long Lane that has earned itself quite a reputation for its traditional Sunday lunches and Moroccan theme nights. Borrowing a little character from its namesake, Chaplin's has a smart black and white interior with a Deco twist, and the menu designed by chef Robin Hawkesworth is an English/Euro blend of classic dishes – we love the crab cakes served with an Oriental soy dipping sauce; the confit of duck in a morello cherry sauce with asparagus and dauphinoise potatoes; and the home-made Baileys profiteroles. Chaplin's also has ladies night every month providing a great excuse for girls-only dinner parties.

A pleasant meal for Fathers day, although I did expect a traditional roast dinner, but what was offered was very nice indeed...quite large portions too which was a bit too much for me personally..overall very good
Meal was ok, abit pricey for what it was though, lovely atmosphere.
We have not been to Chaplins for a couple of years. It was okay. Just okay. The service was good but the food not exceptional. My medium/rare steak was medium at best but my husbands shark steak was very nice. Wine list is very small but we found a nice bottle of red on it. They appear to be branching out with 'Ladies nights' on certain days of the week. I would expect them to be quite popular if that is your 'thing'
This is or 3rd visit to Chaplins, service was great with a happy & friendly waitress. The Lamb rack off the special board was cooked to perfection & my wifes steak was oozing with succulent juices, cooked to her (fussy) requirements! Whenever we go out,we go to Chaplins, its our local restaurant which is a bonus and the food and service is always to a high standard. Is it Fine dining like some reviews question? Some dishes are, some arent, but id rather great food than poncy.A double thumbs up from us
Given the scores we expected a bit more from Chaplins in Ickenham. The scallops in the starter were undercooked and cold, and although the beef wellington tasted very good it was a little overcooked and hence a bit dry, and the mash was a bit powdery. The desserts redeemed the meal somewhat, but we were left feeling underwhelmed.
