Acorn House

About Acorn House

Come to Waterhouse restaurant in London’s Shoreditch for a great meal and leave with a clear conscience. Waterhouse restaurant is London’s very first completely eco-friendly restaurant - from the vegetable-based ink on the menus to the rooftop herb garden, even down to the carbon footprint-busting means by which the menu’s seasonal ingredients arrive at the kitchen. The design is sleek and modern with an open kitchen and bustling atmosphere. The modern European menu changes at least monthly to take advantage of peak produce while the international wine list features Sussex and Kentish labels among the labels on the international biodynamic, organic, carbon neutral and Fairtrade list. Waterhouse also provides an educational resource for local schools, the public in general and a new breed of trainee chefs too.

Very tasty food and excellent service at The Waterhouse. Will go back. Lovely olives, tasty butternut squash soup. My two friends absolutely loved their food (guinea fowl and lamb). I was disappointed by the slow-braised lamb - I only like it when it falls off the bone. The waitress told the manager, who came over immediately, apologised, and offered us a lovely complimentary dessert platter. Fantastic. I came here because I liked the ethos of the place, and am very impressed.

We had a lovely night at Acorn House (aka Waterview Restaurant) in Shoreditch. The small menu was excellent (and made all the better by the fact that I understand it was all locally sourced and with a focus on minimising the amount of food going to waste); our waitress was really attentive and friendly; the ambience is really relaxing and would work for a couple or for a larger group. The location's also interesting, right on the waterfront though bus travel's probably required to get there.

Acorn house (sign outside says Waterhouse, slightly confusingly) is tucked down a side street off Kingsland Rd near Haggerstone Station. It's a bright modern venue with a deck overlooking the canal. The food was very good especially the lamb and tortellini, vanilla risotto w mint was also v tasty. Despite being a lovely evening it was quiet. Service was attentive and helpful and the bill at just over £60 for two with 3 courses and wine was v reasonable. Will be back.

Acorn restaurant is now known as the Waterhouse. We arrived only to discover that the menu was limited due to the Shoreditch festival. We chose not to stay as the menu was far too limited. The staff were very pleasant and the setting is very interesting. We will return on another day when the restaurant is operating normally.

We chose the Acorn restaurant for our girls night out because of the good reviews on Top Table and weren't disappointed. We all had starters, mains and desserts and they were all delicious. We would come again.
