Toptable says about Acorn House

Come to Acorn House Restaurant in London's King's Cross for a great meal and leave with a clear conscience. Acorn House is London's very first completely eco-friendly restaurant, from the veg ink on the menus to the used chip fat that runs Acorn's green taxi service to the eco-friendly means by which the seasonal ingredients arrive at the kitchen, this restaurant leads the way. The design is sleek and modern with a visible kitchen at one end. Head Chef Arthur Potts changes the Modern London menu at least monthly to take advantage of peak produce. (Psst. Try Acorn's beetroot soup.) The international wine list features Sussex and Kentish labels and a training programme benefits local people.

An absolutely lovely evening - really delicious, imaginative food, effortless, lovely service, a lovely atmosphere and interiors (despite the rather ugly building it's housed in). Knowing that their eco and community credentials are the best around is wonderful - and refreshing that they are fastidiously ethical, but in no way preachy - the focus is definitely on great food. I'll be back asap.

Although the starters were good, the main meals were a bit hit and miss. However, the desserts were excellent. The restaurant had great atmosphere and the service was attentive without being too much.

Acorn House Restaurant provided a pleasant contrast to the hectic bustle of King's Cross. Only a few minutes away from the station, the restaurant had a calming ambience. The menu was simple, but still provided plenty of choice, whilst the servicing staff were helpful and polite.

The starters at Acorn House were fantastic, the mains less so. Overall, I'd certainly recommend if you're in the area but not to travel for unless the green angle really appeals.
