Capel Manor Gardens' 30-acre estate provides a colourful inspiration and scented oasis surrounding a Georgian Manor House and Victorian Stables. Make the most of this unique opportunity to see behind the scenes at Greater London's only specialist College of Horticulture, Floristry, Garden Design, Arboriculture, Animal Care and Countryside Studies and take away fresh ideas for your own garden.

Capel Manor Gardens features 30 acres of richly planted themed gardens including Historical Gardens, Italianate Maze, Japanese Garden, Kim Wilde's Jungle Gym Garden and many others. It also contains the Gardening Which? Magazine demonstration and trial gardens and The National Gardening Centre. This centre has specially designed gardens including Sunflower Street – seven front and back gardens designed by former students.

There is also The Hessayon Centre with garden gift shop and plant sales in the summer season. •The Animal Corner has Kune Kune pigs, goats, poultry and rabbits and Clydesdale Horses can be seen working and exercising in the grounds. Refreshments are available in the Terrace Restaurant serving hot and cold food or bring your own picnic.

  • Herts Heavy Horse Show and Festival of Leathercrafts at Capel Manor Gardens

    A day in the country with Heavy Horse breeds on parade including Clydesdales, Shires and Suffolks. Activities, including dray rides, start at 11am and rosette presentations at 4pm, all organised by the Hertfordshire Heavy Horse Association. The college saddlery team will also be running workshops and demonstrations related to saddlery and associated leathercrafts.
