This snug 'n' cosy restaurant is set entirely underground in a series of three dining rooms each decorated individually with whitewashed vaulted ceilings and comfy leather chairs, and the intimate setting is perfect for dinner parties and celebrations. Popular with City types, commuters and curry-lovers alike, The India has an extensive menu which features classic curries such as jalfrezies and balti masalas, and the restaurant's signature dish is the thali – a selection of traditional dishes presented in small bowls on a round tasting platter. The chef prides himself on creating classic renditions of the subcontinent’s most exclusive gastronomy – Vintage Indian cuisine. Unobtrusive, seamless service is the byword here. It’s no surprise that The India is busy at lunch and with an after-work crowd, and has a popular private dining room for events.

Great service, food and ambiance...very romantic.
The India, Cannon Street London, served up yet more exceptional food when we went for our big end of quarter curry. Our location in the restaurant was quite dark and the service level dipped due to the size of our group. However, don't let anything put you off going to this curry house.
Enjoyable & good food as always, but would be pricey without the discount.
The India is a lovely restaurant in the vaults which offers good food, friendly service and a nice ambience. I keep going back there with friends and it is good value with the 50% TT discount on a Monday evening. It was quite busy for a Monday night, so the secret is out now !
The India down College Hill near Cannon St Station is my favourite Indian Restaurant in the City. There is a great atmosphere in it's candle lit, underground cave with exposed brick walls and friendly service. They also have a dish on the menu which I have never seen elsewhere - Crab Bhuna to which I am slightly addicted! The prices seem to have increased here recently but the Top Table Discount obviously helps.
