The Prince of Wales
About The Prince of Wales
The Prince of Wales – located in the Upper Richmond Road in Putney – is a brilliantly chic and contemporary British boozer. The restored nineteenth century facade belies the gastropub's stylish and cosy interior, and the light-filled dining room is always busy with a creative young crowd. The Prince of Wales menu boasts rustic traditional English dishes such as the crispy pig, dandelion and apple salad; lamb fritters with caper relish; hare and potato pie for two; and beer battered haddock with pea purée, tartare sauce and chips. Perfect for long, lazy Sunday lunches and nights out with friends, the restaurant at The Prince of Wales is a welcome addition to the Putney pub scene.

I've eaten here a few times now and each occasion have been very happy with the food and overall experience. This time was for a lunch during the week, so it was a little quieter than usual, but still a decent ambience. The menu is very good and a variety of options available to suit everyone. Shame we couldn't stay longer and enjoy a couple of more drinks!
Went to prince of wales in Putney for Sunday lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Starters were delicious and beautifully presented. Roast beef was still rare at 2.30 and very tasty too, although I preferred the chips to the roast potatoes, which were a bit hard, although still fluffy inside. Desserts were good but couldn't compete with the excellent starters and mains, although I am probably biased as I don't have a sweet tooth! Attentive service but not OTT. Will definitely return!
Having lived in or the vicinity of Putney for 20+ years, i am embarrassed that we haven't discovered this gem sooner. Fantastic choice from an exciting menu, that makes decisions difficult as everything sounds so good! It did not disappoint.
The Prince of Wales in Putney is a lovely place for sunday lunch. Sadly there is limited outside space so on a sunny day, we were in a pleasant victorian room. The staff were excellent with a good menu. The quality of the food very good especially as all the bread made inhouse. Would certain recommend and return.
We had some friends visiting from out of town and took them to The Prince of Wales in Putney for Sunday roast. As per usual, it didn't disappoint. The best roast in the area. Staff are super friendly and efficient, the food is fabulous and the atmosphere great. We'll definitely be back - again and again!
