The Foundry had surprisingly good food with touches of fine dinning in the mains. We ordered the chicken thighs stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese amongst other things, and the duck breast that were both cooked, favoured and seasoned very well. Service was nice and casual. The cocktail list though, despite being extensive was actually boring and dull. It tastes like a fruit juice more than anything. But would definitely recommend the food!
Having been a big fan of Caponata, I was interested to see The Foundry, and whether it lived up to its predecssor. It was extremely quiet (lunchtime on Tuesday) and i was told that there would be a half hour wait for my first ordering choice (stuffed chicken thighs) which wasn't a good start. so all 3 of us plumped for their ploughmans lunch, meat & cheese for me, and seafood for them. The food was REALLY tasty, but piled high on bread boards that were too small & everything fell off!
Our evening at The Foundry had mixed results. The setting is great, and we were told all about the music and entertainments avaliable there. It has a great courtyard and the location is very central. The cocktails were great and there's a happy hour from 7pm till 8pm. Service was good, very friendly and helpful. However the food was disappointing. Starters were good with generous helpings but the mains were not up to scratch - chicken was undercooked and a pasta dish was dull.
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience from the moment we stepped in. To make a long story short we could not find a fault. The staff were great, they really made our evening. The food was to die for and ever so tasty, from starters & mains, to dessert & coffee. We will be returning very soon!
The Foundry in Camden is an excellent restaurant with well priced food that is delicious. The staff were very attentive and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
