Surprisingly dated ambience. The whole room needs renovating. It feels a bit ... communist former German Democratic Republic meets former British Empire. My chair sagged ... The food was "good", but from a Michelin starred restaurant ... well let's just say the "star" raises expectations that were ... "met", but not exceeded. The service was super - impeccable. Especially towards two small (very well behaved - we were lucky that eve :-)) children, tip-top.
On a Monday night in winter GR at Claridges was 2/3 empty and it's not difficult to see why - it's really lost its sparkle. Starter and main course tasty but over-salted and unbalanced - almost 100% meat with the vegetables described reduced to a teaspoon of puree and not a carb in sight! The waiter laid great stress on dessert being the highlight and he was right, being the ony well-balanced course. Somelier completely unable to recommend or describe wine, otherwise good service.

The food at Gordon Ramsay at Claridges London was fantastic, the service was excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's was superb. We booked lunch for our anniversary and thought it some of the best food we have ever eaten. The staff, service and surroundings were impeccable. My marinated Kingfish was delicious as was the slow cooked beef. The extras included, such as breads, appetiser and home made chocolates with the coffee made it seem really good value for money. We will be going again.
