The Rapscallion

About The Rapscallion

Rapscallion restaurant is a stalwart on the south London dining scene. With its quirky sensibility and brilliant international menu, Rapscallion is always packed with a young and vibrant Clapham Common crowd, and the restaurant is especially popular for breakfast and lazy weekend brunch dates. Located on Venn Street across the road from the Clapham Picture House, the restaurant is a great place for pre/post cinema dining, and is popular with an after-work crowd who like to stick around for dinner. The cocktail list here is superb, and the short international menu includes favourites like the blackened soy salmon with rice noodles, and home-made puddings like the apple and blackberry crumble served with lashings of fresh cream. Al fresco dining is available during the summer months, and the restaurant attracts young professionals, antipodeans, local families and brunch buffs alike. A little local gem, Rapscallion has limited seating and booking is essential.

The Rapscallion is a wonderful little restaurant / cocktail bar - the food is top notch, it is my favourite place in Clapham.

Buzzing atmosphere but a little noisy, I had to ask them to turn the music down twice. As everyone was shouting over each other. The tables are also too tightly packed in menacing you can't help but hear what the tables on either side are discussing. Despite all this the service was great and the food very good. With a varied menu of French, Asian and British (all cooked well) there is something for everyone. All they need now is a TT deal.

Lovely little place that has been in existence in Clapham for years and it was time visit again; I thoroughly enjoyed a great bloody mary, yummy fresh crab spring rolls and a truly scrumptious and perfectly cooked fresh lemon sole whilst my fellow diner had what looked like a fab roast belly of pork to follow the mushroom risotto starter. Two very happy diners. It is a 'cosy' place where you sit very close to the people on the next table, part of the charm. Staff is lovely too.

lovely little restaurant close to clapham picturehouse. food was freshly prepared and very tasty. only critic is that the toilets were out of order due to refurbishment and we had to go across the street.

The service was slow - irritatingly the bread arrived at the same time as the starters, so what was ordered to keep the wolf from the door turned out to just be a waste of money. The food was, at best, average, and I felt that the quality of the ingredients was poor. The place was small and loud, and the fixtures & fittings were Ikea knock-offs. I'd heard great things, but was very disappointed.
