Loungelover

About Loungelover

Loungelover’s sultry surrounds were created out of necessity more than anything else. Not only did London need a fabulously hip space for knockout cocktails, but the bar space at sister site Le Trois Garcons was deemed just a little too small. Conveniently located around the corner from Le Trois on Whitby Street, Loungelover’s décor is a succession of separate areas, each with their own identity, giving the impression of walking through a film set. Cocktails both old and new are on offer, and resident mixologists are some of the best in the biz. Even the food is fashionable, focusing on small plates for sharing, all with a Japanese slant. We like the idea of nibbling on a futomaki roll while sipping on a glass of champagne.

Although in parts our dinner at Loungelover in Shoreditch was nice, we do not recommend it. The cocktails were tasty, and both the decor and atmosphere were pleasing. However, the food was very disappointing. Sushi rice was overdone, food was cold, shitake mushrooms were absent in the shitake beef dish. Beef was under seasoned and my plate was a pile of rump steak bits on one side with a few vegetable crisps on the other. Hugely disappointing. Go for the cocktails certainly not the food.

A friend and I visited LoungeLover as it was in such close proximity to the Aubin cinema so was a convenient choice for dinner and drinks after a film. The extensive cocktail menu was impressive and the food was good, but the table we were allocated in the bar area was much lower than our seats and so eating wasn't a comfortable experience! May visit again for cocktails but will probably eat elsewhere.

Good cocktails, great food, enjoyed the atmosphere and design. Only downside is that we were seated literally right next to the doors on a very cold evening which made it uncomfortable for eating every time someone walked in. We asked to move to one of the two empty tables further in but staff said we couldn't because they were booked. We were a group of four and the empty tables were bigger tables for 6 so we figured they must be booked by bigger groups than us. However when the people arrived half an hour later there were only 2 to each table of six, and they weren't eating, so don't really understand why they got priority. So a shame the service wasn't good because the food was excellent.

The food and drinks were very good and there was a good ambience. The service was slow but all in all it was worth it.
