The Exhibition Rooms

About The Exhibition Rooms

Taking inspiration from The Great Exhibition of 1851 in Crystal Palace, The Exhibition Rooms restaurant is definitely unique for this area of London. Situated over two floors, the restaurant has Colonial-esque elegance on the ground floor restaurant that’s intriguingly juxtaposed with the decadent feel lounge. There’s a lovely decked garden, too. In the dining room, all is light and airy with white walls, masses of windows, wooden floors and vintage seating and tables. The lounge is an anything-can-happen mix of purple suede walls, silvered antique tables and low seating. The Exhibitions Rooms award-winning restaurant is a popular concoction, and the modern British menu has gone down a storm. Try Barbary duck breast with creamed Savoy cabbage, baby beets, caramelised shallots and port jus or skate wing on the bone with sauce grenobloise. Burger fans take note: The Exhibition Rooms makes one of the finest in the area and Monday night is always gourmet burger night.

Exhibition Rooms, Crystal Palace. The evening began badly since our table was not ready at the appointed time and we had to wait a good half hour. However, the quality of the food more than made up for the delay. The steak tartare was superb as were the scallops. Main courses were also largely well received although one of our number who had rabbit felt it was rather disappointing. Unusually, it was removed from the bill - a gesture which impressed our party. The 'puddings' were all very good!

Last minute booking on a Sunday evening at the Exhibition Rooms where usually a safe bet but standards dropped possibly due to having more people than expected on Sunday evening due to Bank Holiday & understaffed. We were moved tables, 1 side dish not served but still charged for & childrens meal delivered & charged for as an adult meal. Food also so so for once - gnocci more like potato croquettes, fish & chips bit lacklustre. But an aberration - its a great neighbourhood place so will return
