Toptable says about Hawtrey's

Hawtrey's is the luxurious new restaurant at the 3-star Barn Hotel in rural Ruislip. Its striking design is based on a Jacobean baronial hall, which means an ornate coffered ceiling supported by carved oak hammer beams. Crisp white tablecloths and fine bone china sets contrast with the surrounding warm mahogany panelling - an ideal setting for ladies who lunch, business folk, foodies and romantic diners alike. The setting might be thoroughly English but the cuisine, directed by the Michelin-starred protégé of Gordon Ramsay and former head-chef at Amaryllis Restaurant in Glasgow, Colin Buchan, is Modern French to the last. The whole charming affair is overlooked by restaurant manager Patrice and his enthusiastic team. Stood opposite Ruislip station, Hawtrey's is hardly hard to find or get to.

We had Afternoon Tea in the bar. The poor waitress was very over streched and as a result we did have to wait. However, the lovely surroundings and great value prices made this a lovely afternoon.

Went to Hawtreys for early Xmas lunch treat with 5 work colleagues and for the first time (on about my 6th visit) came away feeling a little disappointed. Despite only 4 tables being occupied during lunch time, service was very slow and not as attentive as usual. Also soup starter was luke warm and snapper fillet main course was tiny and quite chewy. I usually rave about Hawtreys so I am prepared to put this down as a one-off and as it was only 16.95 for 3 courses it was still good value.

Hawtrey's was excellent, although it was not busy when we went. A little more atmosphere would be achievable if there were more than 3 tables occupied! Food was excellent, in fact we felt a bit too full after all the amuse bouche and extras the chef was sending out. Service was impeccable, and the wine list reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Hawtry's was a lovely dining experience and at lunch time excellent value for money! The special 3 course menu for £15.95 was wonderful. The carrot and honey soup out of this world. A little disappointed with the blackberry tart desert although the chocolate panna cotta was very good.

Recommend you pay a vist, great to have this on our doorstep. Shame the 2 glasses of wine, bottle of water and coffees cost as much as the meal!
