El Aguajal

With three restaurants in Peru and over 18 years of experience, the team behind El Aguajal have had no trouble bringing the best of their home country to London. Located on Kingsland Road in Hackney, the restaurant is named after the Aguaje tree (which is known as 'the tree of life') and locals have already fallen for its exotic charms. Peruvian cuisine uniquely combines the flavours of four continents and the menu features traditional dishes like ceviche; deep fried cassava with cheese dip; seco de pollo (chicken with coriander, rice and white beans with a Creole sauce); and tacacho con chorizo (fried mashed green plantain with spicy sausage). El Aguajal also offers traditional desserts and some excellent Spanish and Chilean wines.
