Adam & Eve

About Adam & Eve

For more than two hundred years there has been an inn in this spot in the centre of London’s Mill Hill Village, home, since Edwardian times to The Adam and Eve. Situated in a glorious position, surrounded by greenbelt and opposite woodlands, The Adam and Eve seems to be in another place altogether – it really is hard to believe one is in London when dining here. Refurbished to a high standard, The Adam and Eve is beautifully atmospheric with its dove gray panelled walls, wilfully eccentric mix of junkshop artworks, worn wooden floorboards and reclamation style furnishings. Proudly referring to itself as a gastropub, The Adam and Eve offers monthly changing menus featuring seasonal, fresh and local ingredients presented in unpretentious but creative and delicious ways. Welcoming everyone from young families with their dog to couples and groups of pub-going Londoners, The Adam and Eve is a friendly, relaxed and comfortable alternative to city centre dining in a peaceful but still vibrant location.

We had a lovely evening at the Adam and Eve. The restaurant part at the back was really relaxing and well designed. I had a pizza which was lovely. 2 of our party had the risotto which they both said was really good. Service was friendly and attentive but also gave us plenty of time to chat withour feeling rushed. Reasonably priced (we spent £22 each for two courses and drinks). The only worrying thing was that we were the only people there. Please try it as we don't want it to have to close!

Adam and Eve is a very busy place, The food was very good but the service was a little slow. When we arrived we were told that our Top Table booking had not been made (although I had the confirmation) and we were therefore put in the bar food section not what I would have called the restaurant section. When a large party came in a little later we felt rather uncomfortable because they were standing talking right on top of us. The food as I mentioned was good although it is a small menu,

The Adam & Eve had an off day on Bank Holiday lunch. Understaffed, the food was backed up and until we asked no managing of our expectations. Food itself was fine.

The Adam & Eve Mill Hill, despite initial promise has settled down to being an overly expensive and very average experience. The food lacks impact except for the ridiculously large Yorkshire puddings - served with everything it seems and perhaps devised to cover up for the poorly cooked roast potatoes -certainly not 'cooked' in duck fat. Our waiter was good but the staff seem unconnected to our experience - just the process. No Bread, no horseradish offered , little gravy! No fun at all.
